Questions & Answers FAQ

Everything you need to know before your shoot in Kyoto.

Planning a shoot on your trip? Here are the questions our overseas guests ask most. If something isn't covered here, please feel free to get in touch.

01 —Before You Visit

Before You Visit

Can we book from overseas, before our trip?

Yes. Please send your preferred dates through the booking form before you travel, and we will confirm availability by email.

We don't speak Japanese — is that okay?

Yes. Our staff aren't fully fluent in English, but many guests who speak little Japanese enjoy the shoot with no trouble. We guide you mainly by showing poses, with gestures and simple English, and we can use a translation app when needed. If there's anything specific you'd like to tell us, feel free to note it when you book.

How long does it take?

About 3.5 hours for Couple Portrait, or about 4.5 hours for Formal Portrait — from arrival to departure, short enough to fit into a day of sightseeing.

Where is the studio, and how do we get there?

We're in the Okazaki area of Kyoto (Sakyo-ku), close to Heian Shrine and Okazaki Park. It's about a 10-minute walk from Higashiyama Station on the subway Tozai line, or about 5 minutes from the Okazaki-koen bus stop.

02 —Outfits & Styles

Outfits & Styles

What styles can we choose?

Kimono, dress and concept styles — or your own clothes. Choose the world that suits the two of you.

See styles →
Do you have outfits that will fit us?

Sizes vary by outfit, but we generally carry S to XL. If you have any concerns about fit, please tell us your measurements when you book, and we will prepare the most suitable outfits we can.

Is this a Japanese wedding photo? We're on our honeymoon.

It can be. The full wedding-style kimono — a colour uchikake, or montsuki-hakama for the groom — is our Formal Portrait plan: a portrait that marks your marriage, without the time a full Japanese photo-wedding usually takes. If you'd prefer a more relaxed kimono, the Couple Portrait plan covers that too.

Can we shoot in our own clothes, or with costumes and props we bring?

Yes. We welcome your own clothes, costumes and meaningful keepsakes (there is no limit on the number; for safety, please avoid dangerous items).

Is men's hair & make-up included?

Men's hair & make-up is not included in the basic plan.

03 —On the Day

On the Day & Payment

Do we need a wedding or any special reason?

Not at all. Any couple is welcome — a honeymoon, an anniversary, a proposal, or simply your Kyoto trip.

Can we have solo shots as well as couple shots?

Couple shots are the focus, and we are happy to take some solo shots of each of you as well.

How do we pay?

We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Nicos, UnionPay) and QR-code payments (PayPay, Alipay).

04 —Your Photos

Your Photos

When and how do we receive the photos?

You choose your favourites, and we deliver the retouched data afterwards — within about a month — so you can receive them even after returning home.

Can we get prints or a photo album?

Yes, we offer photo items such as panels and photo books. Please note we cannot ship physical goods outside Japan, so for overseas guests we recommend the digital data, which is delivered after the shoot.
